Cheap Nice from Dublin: an all-in weekend from ~389 €
Nice is one of the easiest budget escapes on the French Riviera, and reaching it from Dublin takes roughly 2h57 by plane. Once you arrive, most of what makes the city special is free: the pebble beach along the Promenade des Anglais, the lanes of Old Nice, and the view from Castle Hill.
You do not need to spend much to enjoy it. Wander Place Masséna, picnic by the sea, and save the paid stops (like the Matisse Museum) for a rainy afternoon. This guide covers the basics so a trip from Dublin stays cheap and simple.

Nice on a budget
The best things here cost nothing: the Promenade des Anglais, the beach, Castle Hill, and getting lost in Old Nice. Grab a slice of socca (the local chickpea flatbread) at the Cours Saleya market for a cheap, filling lunch. Refill your water bottle at the public fountains and picnic by the sea to keep daily spending low. Many museums, including the Matisse Museum, are worth the ticket if you want a break from the sun.
Getting around and neighbourhoods
Arriving from Dublin in about 2h57 by plane, you will find central Nice is small and very walkable, with Place Masséna as the natural hub. Old Nice, just behind the coast, has the cheapest eats and the most atmosphere, while the seafront tram and bus network covers everything else for a low flat fare. Base yourself near the old town or the train station to reach the beach, the market, and Castle Hill on foot.
Best time to visit
Late spring and early autumn are the sweet spot: the weather is warm, the sea is swimmable, and prices sit below the July and August peak. Summer is lively but the most expensive and crowded, so book early if you travel from Dublin then. Winter is quiet and cheap, with mild days that still suit walking the Promenade des Anglais and browsing Old Nice.
